01 — First Visit · All Patients

Varicose Vein Check

Your first visit includes a chat about your health history, a physical examination, and a brief ultrasound scan (POCUS) — with every finding explained clearly along the way.

Conditions We Assess

  • Varicose veins of the legs and thighs
  • Spider veins and reticular veins
  • Foot and ankle veins
  • Faulty leg vein valves (saphenous reflux)
  • Chronic poor circulation in the veins
  • Leg heaviness, aching and swollen legs
  • Venous skin changes and ulceration
  • Venous leg ulcers
02 — Injection Therapy · Most Patients

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy involves injecting a fine solution directly into the affected vein. The solution causes the vein wall to close off and gradually fade as the body absorbs it over several weeks.

Suitable for spider veins, thread veins, and smaller varicose veins. The solution is delivered as a liquid or foam depending on the size and depth of the vein.

What to Expect

  • In-clinic — no anaesthetic required
  • Session approximately 30–60 minutes
  • Minimal discomfort during treatment
  • Compression stockings post-procedure
  • Return to normal activities same day
  • Gradual improvement over 4–8 weeks
  • Multiple sessions may be advised
  • Walk regularly post-procedure — avoid prolonged standing or sitting
  • Follow-up review at 4 weeks and 3–6 months
03 — Thermal Ablation · Some Patients

Radiofrequency Ablation

RFA uses gentle, controlled heat delivered through a fine tube to close the affected vein from the inside. The whole procedure is guided by ultrasound imaging for accuracy and safety.

Commonly used for the main leg veins (great and small saphenous veins) when their valves are no longer working properly — the underlying cause of most significant varicose veins.

What to Expect

  • Ultrasound-guided throughout for precision
  • Approximately 30–45 minutes
  • Walk in, walk out procedure
  • Mild bruising or tightness is normal
  • Compression garment for 1–2 weeks
  • Long track record of clinical use
  • Regular walking encouraged from day one
  • Follow-up review at 4 weeks and 3–6 months

Private health insurance

Some private health funds may contribute to treatment costs. We can provide relevant item numbers in advance so you can confirm your entitlements with your insurer before booking.

No surprises

Your Varicose Vein Check fee covers your consultation. Any treatment costs are discussed at that visit — you choose if and when to proceed, with full cost transparency.
